When is the Best Time to Visit Walt Disney World?

How do you decide when the best time is for your family to visit Walt Disney World? School or work schedules will narrow available vacation times for most people. But, school breaks, such as spring break, summer, and the holidays tend to be the most crowded at the parks.

Weather preference will also help you decide the best time to visit. Do you love hot weather and want to take advantage of the water parks or your resort pool? Summer would be perfect for you.

Winter and early fall may be ideal if you have a flexible schedule. The parks are less crowded, and the weather is pleasant.

There are pros and cons to every season and every month at Disney World. So we’ve created a helpful season-by-season, month-by-month guide to help you choose the best time for your visit. This guide provides all the information you need to make your visit to Walt Disney World as magical as can be.

Best Time to Visit Walt Disney World

Winter

Winter days at Walt Disney World are warm and pleasant, while nights are cooler. Rainfall is low, and humidity is tolerable. Winter also brings fewer daylight hours which means shorter park hours. The water parks and resort pools aren’t as inviting due to the cooler weather. The park grounds aren’t as lush and beautiful as other times of the year. You will also find more attractions shut down for refurbishment. On the plus side, the holiday crowds are long gone, and many stay away because of the cooler weather. You’ll also enjoy off-season rates and short lines.

Spring

Temperatures are rising but still pleasant and flowers are blooming everywhere creating some lovely scenery. Water Park crowds will increase during Spring Break and Easter.  Crowds will be heavy to start the season but by the end of April and early May crowd levels will return to moderate levels.

If you or your family members suffer from seasonal allergies, now is the time that you’ll want to have your allergy medication on hand.  Guests with allergies and asthma can request a special VIP cleaning for your hotel room by calling Guest Services at 407-939-5277.

Summer

Summer is the longest season at Walt Disney World stretching all the way from late May to late September. The positive side of going during the summer are the long days, extended park hours, fewer ride refurbishments and more entertainment options. Also, crowd levels are at moderate levels so wait times are reasonable.  The only downside to Disney during summer is the heat. In addition, high humidity and frequent rain showers will keep you hot, sweaty, sticky and uncomfortable all day long. However, if you’re willing to take some extra steps to make the heat tolerable and structure your day wisely, you can still have a wonderful trip.

Fall

Fall does not truly begin until October at Walt Disney World. However, it’s a wonderful season with pleasant weather, long days and mostly moderate crowd levels. Mid-September (after Labor Day) until Mid-October (before Halloween) and early November are some of the best times of the year to visit.

Also, there are several big events that happen in Fall.  Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party starts late August until end of October.
